Mid-Century Italian Cube Chandelier by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, Murano, c.1970s
A striking mid-century Murano glass chandelier designed by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega, dating to the 1970s.
The chandelier is composed of numerous hand-blown Murano glass cube elements, each individually formed with a softly textured surface that captures and refracts the light. The cubes are suspended from a concealed metal structure, creating a sculptural and architectural composition that appears to float in space.
Clear cristallo glass cubes are interspersed with warm amber-toned elements, introducing a subtle contrast that enriches the overall composition and gives the piece depth and visual rhythm. When illuminated, the glass creates a beautifully diffused glow, highlighting the organic variations and artisanal character of each hand-formed element.
A bold and highly collectible example of Italian modernist lighting, combining the geometric experimentation of the 1970s with the exceptional craftsmanship of Murano glassmaking.
A sculptural statement piece suited to both contemporary and mid-century interiors.
