Vintage Italian Lacquered Sideboard by Saporiti, c.1980s

Bold and sculptural vintage Italian sideboard by Saporiti, dating to the 1980s. The piece is defined by its striking contrast of high-gloss black lacquered structure and curved red lacquered doors, creating a strong graphic presence typical of late-modern Italian design.
The façade features two generously scaled, subtly bowed doors, their curved profiles softening the architectural mass of the cabinet and introducing a sense of movement. The lacquered red surfaces provide a vivid chromatic counterpoint to the black framework, while the interior offers ample storage with a clean, functional layout.
At the centre, cylindrical vertical supports in a warm metallic finish add both structural articulation and decorative emphasis, grounding the design and giving the piece a refined, almost architectural rhythm. The top surface is finished in matching black lacquer, providing a sleek display plane suitable for decorative objects or lighting.
A confident and distinctive example of Italian post-modern furniture, balancing strong form, colour, and craftsmanship, and representative of Saporiti’s innovative design language during the 1980s.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition, with light surface marks and minor wear consistent with age and use. Please note there are cracks in veneer on the top of the sideboard.
