A dining table in the Hollywood Regency style of Maison Jansen, designed by French designer Pierre Cardin in the 1980s. This large octagonal table exemplifies the bold glamour and architectural elegance associated with the period.
The structure is executed in black-lacquered wood, accented with brass inserts at the base and a decorative band featuring a bakelite-effect briar finish. The tabletop is formed from smoked glass, adding depth and refinement to the overall composition.
The sculptural base is composed of four elegantly curved brass legs, joined by two central brass rings, creating a striking and balanced architectural form. The combination of lacquer, brass, and glass results in a dramatic yet sophisticated statement piece, characteristic of Cardin’s distinctive design language during this era.
