Set of Six “Chelsea” Dining Chairs by Vittorio Introini for Saporiti, Italy, c.1966
Iconic set of six Chelsea dining chairs designed by Vittorio Introini for Saporiti in circa 1966, exemplifying the architectonic clarity and restrained elegance of Italian mid-century modern design.
Each chair features a sculptural, generously contoured seat and backrest, now fully reupholstered in a soft bouclé Valentino fabric, offering a contemporary textural contrast while remaining sympathetic to the original form. The upholstery enhances both comfort and visual presence without compromising the integrity of Introini’s design.
The chairs rest on robust, square-section black lacquered timber frames, connected by strong horizontal stretchers that provide stability and a grounded architectural base. The elevated upholstered shell appears to float above the structure, a defining characteristic of the Chelsea model.
All chairs are structurally sound and presented in excellent condition following reupholstery. The frames show only light wear consistent with age.
A highly desirable and increasingly scarce set, ideal for refined dining interiors or collectors seeking a classic example of Italian design by Vittorio Introini for Saporiti.
