Refined Murano Glass Sconces by Giovanni Dalla Fina, Italy, 1980s

An exceptional pair of 1980s Italian Murano glass sconces by Giovanni Dalla Fina, distinguished by their dramatic scale, sculptural geometry and sophisticated interplay of glass and brass.

Each sconce centres on a luminous acid-etched Murano glass bowl, richly textured to diffuse the light into a soft, atmospheric glow. The bowl is embraced by sweeping architectural curves of clear glass with a dark inner core, creating an extraordinary halo-like silhouette around the central light.

A long, tapered black Murano glass cone descends beneath the bowl, providing a striking counterpoint to the transparency and luminosity above. Handcrafted brass fittings unite the composition, their warm patinated finish beautifully contrasting with the clear, textured and deep black glass.

Entirely handcrafted in Italy during the 1980s, the sconces embody the expressive glamour of late 20th-century Italian design while retaining the exceptional artisanal traditions of Murano glassmaking. Monumental yet elegant, they read as much as sculptural works of art as functional lighting.

A rare and captivating pair with remarkable presence, ideal for an entrance, dining room or interior requiring a truly statement-making piece of Italian design.
