Pair of Italian Art Deco Wall Sconces by Barovier e Toso
Italy, c. 1930s
An exceptional and highly sculptural pair of Italian Art Deco wall sconces attributed to Barovier e Toso, one of Murano’s most important and historically significant glass houses.
Each sconce is formed from thick, moulded clear Murano glass with a dramatic fluted and feathered relief pattern, tapering elegantly towards the base. The deeply textured glass refracts and diffuses light beautifully, creating a soft, architectural glow and pronounced shadow play against the wall—hallmarks of the refined Art Deco aesthetic.
The glass is mounted with discreet original-style brass fixings, allowing the form and craftsmanship of the glass to remain the focal point. When illuminated, the sconces display remarkable depth and clarity, demonstrating the technical mastery for which Barovier e Toso is renowned.
Both sconces have been professionally rewired to Australian standards, making them suitable for immediate installation.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age consistent with period and use. No visible cracks or structural damage to the glass. Please refer to images for full condition details.
A rare and elegant pair, ideal for refined residential interiors, grand hallways, or design-led commercial spaces seeking authentic Italian Art Deco lighting with strong sculptural presence.
