Mid-Century Murano Glass Chandelier, Italy, c.1960s
A striking mid-century Italian chandelier produced by Venini, Murano, in the 1960s. The chandelier is composed of numerous hand-blown Murano glass elements, each beautifully formed in an hourglass shape, creating a dynamic sculptural structure.
The glass elements are arranged in alternating rows of four and five, fitting snugly together to form a dense, tiered composition that tapers gently toward the base. Each individual element features a richly textured organic surface, characteristic of Murano craftsmanship of the period, allowing the light to refract and diffuse beautifully throughout the piece.
Suspended from a central metal frame, the repetition of these hourglass-shaped forms creates a strong architectural presence while maintaining the elegance and refinement synonymous with Venini’s celebrated glass production.
A refined example of Italian mid-century lighting design, combining sculptural form with exceptional Murano glassmaking.
