Mid-Century Marquetry Sideboard by Vittorio Dassi & Piero Del Grande for Dassi Mobili Moderni, 1950s
This exceptional mid-century sideboard was designed by Vittorio Dassi in collaboration with Piero Del Grande for Dassi Mobili Moderni in the 1950s.
With its floating, wall-mounted form and gently curved façade, the piece is both sculptural and refined. The front is richly decorated with elaborate marquetry in walnut, birch, and rosewood, depicting an elegant pastoral hunting scene: horses, hounds, and figures set against rolling landscapes, villas, and trees. The intricate inlay demonstrates the highest level of Italian craftsmanship, transforming the sideboard into a work of functional art.
The piece has been fully restored, including the addition of a newly cut glass top to protect and enhance its surface. Brass hardware is discreetly integrated, ensuring the continuity of the narrative marquetry.
A smaller version of this sideboard is also available, offering versatility for different interior settings.
Rare and highly collectible, this sideboard is a quintessential example of Italian post-war design, combining modernist form with artisanal detail.
