Mid-Century Italian Two-Tier Chandelier by Toni Zuccheri for Venini – Fumé & Amber
Exceptional mid-century Italian chandelier designed by Toni Zuccheri for Venini, Murano, Italy.
The chandelier is composed of individually formed, heavily textured Bark like Murano glass elements arranged across a dramatic two-tier circular frame. Predominantly executed in smoky Fumé glass, the composition is punctuated by warm amber glass elements, creating a beautiful tonal contrast and giving the chandelier depth and warmth when illuminated.
Each glass element has a wonderfully organic, irregular profile, with pronounced vertical striations and rippled edges characteristic of hand-worked Murano glass. The overlapping tiers create a dense, sculptural silhouette, while the transparency of the glass allows light to refract through the textured surfaces.
Viewed from below, the chandelier reveals its architectural radial framework and the individual placement of each glass element—an extraordinary detail that demonstrates both the complexity and craftsmanship of the design.
A substantial statement piece of post-war Italian lighting, equally striking illuminated or unlit.
