Mid-Century Italian Poliedri Chandelier by Carlo Scarpa for Venini
A refined and architecturally composed Mid-Century chandelier designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, executed in a sophisticated palette of cristallo and soft fumé Murano glass.
The piece is formed from individually hand-blown poliedri elements—each faceted and subtly irregular—suspended in a dense, tiered arrangement that creates a sculptural, almost cloud-like volume. The alternating tones of clear and fumé glass introduce depth and quiet contrast, allowing the composition to shift delicately depending on light and perspective.
When illuminated, the glass refracts and softens the light, producing a gentle, atmospheric glow. The textured surface within each element captures the light differently, enhancing the chandelier’s sense of movement and dimensionality.
A timeless and highly collectible example of Scarpa’s work, where geometry, materiality, and light are resolved with precision and restraint.
