Mid-Century Champagne and Clear Poliedri Sconce by Carlo Scarpa for Venini
An exceptional Mid-Century Italian Poliedri wall sconce designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, showcasing one of the most iconic lighting designs to emerge from Murano during the 1950s and 1960s.
The sconce is composed of a striking combination of Champagne and Clear hand-blown Murano glass Poliedri, each individually cast with richly textured surfaces that beautifully refract and diffuse light. Suspended from the original nickel-finished frame, the layered arrangement creates a sculptural composition that appears to float against the wall, producing remarkable depth and luminosity.
Scarpa's architectural approach to form is evident in the precise geometric composition, while Venini's master glassmakers transformed each individual Poliedro into a work of art. The interplay between the warm Champagne tones and crystalline Clear glass gives the piece a refined elegance, making it equally suited to both contemporary and classic interiors.
Highly sought after by collectors, Carlo Scarpa's Poliedri lighting remains among the most celebrated achievements of twentieth-century Italian design.
