Mid-Century Italian LT 338 Pendant Lamp by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, c.1970s
An iconic example of Italian Mid-Century lighting design, the LT 338 pendant was designed by Carlo Nason for A.V. Mazzega during the 1970s. Renowned for his innovative use of Murano glass, Nason created a sculptural form that balances geometric simplicity with exceptional craftsmanship.
The pendant is composed of four hand-blown Murano glass domes in the traditional Pulegoso technique, characterised by thousands of tiny air bubbles suspended within the glass. Arranged concentrically around a polished chrome cylinder, the domes graduate in size and transparency, creating a striking layered composition. When illuminated, the textured glass softly diffuses the light, producing a warm ambient glow while accentuating the pendant's remarkable depth and sculptural form.
A superb example of Carlo Nason's timeless design language, the LT 338 remains one of the most recognisable lighting designs produced by Mazzega, seamlessly complementing both Mid-Century and contemporary interiors.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks to the Murano glass. Minor signs of wear are consistent with the age of the piece. The polished chrome hardware presents well with light age-related wear.
Please note: Due to the substantial weight of the layered Murano glass, the pendant features a heavy-duty suspension and matching canopy. It has been rewired to Australian Standards and should be installed by a qualified electrician.
