Mid-Century ‘Gamma’ Wall Light Attributed to Sergio Mazza for Artemide, Italy, c.1960s
A striking mid-century Italian ‘Gamma’ wall light, attributed to Sergio Mazza for Artemide, dating to the 1960s.
The wall light features a beautifully ribbed opaline glass diffuser, formed in a gently domed shape with fine radial texturing that softly disperses the light. When illuminated, the glass produces a warm and even glow, highlighting the delicate detailing within the surface.
The glass is framed within a solid brass band, whose warm patinated finish adds depth and contrast to the soft white opaline glass. The circular form and restrained materials reflect the refined architectural language characteristic of Sergio Mazza’s early lighting designs for Artemide during the Italian modernist period.
Both sculptural and understated, the piece works beautifully as a single feature light or installed in pairs to create a balanced architectural composition.
A timeless example of Italian modernist lighting design from one of Italy’s most influential lighting manufacturers.
Condition:
Presented in good vintage condition with patina and minor wear to the brass consistent with age and use.
