Italian “Violoncello” Armchair by Piero De Martini for Cassina, Italy, 1970s

Price on application

This sculptural Violoncello armchair by Piero De Martini for Cassina is a striking companion to the three-seater sofa, embodying the same bold architectural language and relaxed comfort that define the series. The chair features sharply angled, sloped arms and a taut outer shell upholstered in its original olive-green suede/leather, contrasted with generously padded loose cushions upholstered in a soft blush-pink fabric. Exposed metal fittings at the arms and base emphasise the chair’s structural honesty and industrial elegance, hallmarks of Cassina’s experimental 1970s production. Equally functional and sculptural, the armchair works beautifully as a standalone statement piece or as part of the complete Violoncello suite.

Condition: Original condition with visible wear and patina to the outer upholstery, consistent with age and use. Cushions remain comfortable and intact. All wear is cosmetic and contributes to the authentic vintage character.
