Italian Art Deco Six-Light Scallop Shell Chandelier, c.1940’s

An elegant Italian Art Deco chandelier featuring six sculptural Murano glass shades in the form of stylised scallop shells. Each hand-blown glass shade displays flowing ribbed detailing with softly ruffled edges, creating a beautiful organic silhouette reminiscent of seashell forms and oceanic movement. The translucent glass shades are suspended upon a dark metal frame with twisted central stem detailing, producing a striking contrast between the delicate luminous glass and the architectural structure. When illuminated, the glass emits a soft atmospheric glow that highlights the fluid folds and sculptural contours of each shell. The chandelier beautifully reflects the romantic and decorative aesthetic associated with Italian Art Deco lighting design, combining elegant symmetry with handcrafted Venetian glass artistry. The chandelier has been rewired to Australian Standards.

Condition: Vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. Please note one of the Murano glass shades has a crack through the glass, however this does not affect the overall structure or functionality of the piece. The chandelier is being sold as is and buyers are encouraged to review the accompanying photographs carefully. The brass and metal components display tarnishing and patination consistent with age, which will continue to develop over time as is the nature of brass. Please also note the chandelier does not retain its original ceiling rose. Minor bubbles, inclusions and variations throughout the glass are consistent with the handmade nature of Murano glass.
