Contemporary Venetian ‘Selle Rigate’ Chandelier by eModerno – Cristallo

A striking contemporary Venetian Selle Rigate chandelier by eModerno, handcrafted by master artisans in our furnace in Venice.

Inspired by the original Selle, or “Saddle”, chandeliers by Barovier & Toso, this contemporary interpretation is composed of individually hand-blown Venetian glass elements, characterised by their elongated form and beautifully flared, sculptural ends.

Shown here in Cristallo, each piece is formed in clear Venetian glass, allowing the distinctive Rigate detailing to take centre stage. Rigate, meaning “ribbed” in Italian, refers to the fine ribbed texture running throughout each individual glass element. The ribbing follows the curves of the glass from top to bottom, emphasising the flowing Selle form while capturing and refracting the light.

The clarity of the Cristallo glass gives the chandelier a particularly luminous quality. When illuminated, the intricate ribbed surface creates layers of reflection and refraction, giving the clear glass remarkable depth and movement.

Composed across five cascading tiers, the chandelier is wider through the upper tiers before gradually tapering to a central point at the bottom. The repetition and overlapping of the sculptural glass elements create a dramatic yet beautifully balanced silhouette.

Manufactured entirely by eModerno in Venice, the Selle Rigate can be fully customised to suit individual projects, including size, number of tiers, overall drop, glass colour and frame finish.
