Vintage Italian Two-Tone Murano Glass Pendant, Attributed to Vistosi, c. 1970
Sculptural vintage Italian pendant light dating to circa 1970, attributed to Vistosi, Murano.
The pendant is defined by its beautifully proportioned, bell-shaped form, executed in substantial hand-blown glass with a distinctive two-tone treatment. The softly opaque upper section transitions into a deep smoky Fumé lower body, creating a striking contrast between diffused and transparent glass.
The broad, flared base reveals the light source from below, while the thickness and curvature of the glass create subtle variations in tone and reflection. Suspended from a chrome chain and ceiling rose, the restrained hardware allows the sculptural glass form to remain the focus.
A wonderful example of 1970s Italian lighting, combining the experimental approach to glassmaking associated with Murano production of the period with a simple, architectural silhouette.
