Mid-Century Italian Chandelier in Amber & Brass by Gino Paroldo for Fontana Arte, Italy, c.1960s

Exceptional Mid-Century Italian chandelier by Gino Paroldo for Fontana Arte, dating to circa the 1960s. Monumental in scale and highly sculptural, the piece embodies the expressive experimentation and glamour of post-war Italian lighting design.

The chandelier is constructed around a polished brass central structure, from which numerous individual arms radiate outwards in a dramatic sunburst formation. Each light is framed by overlapping amber-toned glass panels, arranged in concentric layers to form a spectacular architectural composition.

When illuminated, the warm amber glass and brass interact beautifully with the light, creating rich golden reflections and a striking play between transparency, shadow and mirrored surfaces. Viewed from below, the chandelier takes on an almost floral or celestial quality, with the repeated elements forming an extraordinary radial pattern.

Despite its substantial proportions, the open construction and layered glass give the piece a sense of movement and visual lightness. An impressive statement chandelier suited to a large dining room, entrance, living space or commercial interior.
