Vintage Italian Chandelier by Gaetano Sciolari, Italy, 1970s

Striking vintage Italian chandelier by Gaetano Sciolari, dating to the 1970s. A dramatic example of the designer’s Space Age aesthetic, the chandelier combines strong architectural geometry with highly reflective materials and a cascading composition.

The design features multiple polished chrome tubular elements suspended individually from a large circular ceiling canopy. Each tube terminates in a sculptural glass sphere, creating a series of concentric, staggered tiers that give the chandelier its distinctive waterfall-like silhouette.

The polished chrome, mirrored surfaces and glass spheres interact beautifully with the internal light sources, producing layers of reflection throughout the piece. Viewed from below, the repeated spherical forms create an especially graphic composition, while the long suspension wires lend the chandelier an unexpected sense of lightness despite its substantial scale.

A quintessential statement piece of 1970s Italian design, equally suited to a dramatic entry, stairwell, dining space or double-height interior.
