Mid-Century Italian Poliedri Chandelier by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, Italy, c.1960s
An exceptional mid-century Italian chandelier designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, composed of the iconic Poliedri glass elements that have become synonymous with Venini’s refined Murano glass lighting.
The chandelier is formed from numerous hand-blown faceted glass elements arranged in cascading tiers and suspended from a chromed metal frame. Each individual piece of glass is shaped in the distinctive elongated polygonal form, creating a sculptural composition that refracts light beautifully from every angle.
This example features a rare palette of muted dusty pink and pale blue tones combined with clear glass, produced in Venini’s signature style. The subtle variation of colour creates a soft tonal depth, while the faceted surfaces diffuse the light to produce a gentle, atmospheric glow.
A timeless Venetian design, the piece perfectly reflects Carlo Scarpa’s ability to combine architectural structure with the artistry of Murano glassmaking.
