Mid-Century Italian Poliedri Chandelier by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, c.1960s
A striking mid-century Venetian chandelier composed of hand-blown Poliedri glass elements designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini. The chandelier features multiple tiers of sculptural polyhedral Murano glass prisms, each individually formed and suspended from a chromed metal frame to create a dramatic cascading form.
Each glass element has Scarpa’s distinctive faceted geometry, with a softly textured surface that beautifully refracts and diffuses light when illuminated. Arranged in dense vertical rows, the prisms create a luminous architectural structure, giving the chandelier both volume and remarkable depth.
When lit, the glass catches the light from every angle, producing a warm, shimmering glow characteristic of Venini’s exceptional Murano craftsmanship.
A superb example of Italian mid-century lighting design, combining Scarpa’s modernist sensibility with the master glassmaking tradition of Venice.
Rewired to Australian standards.
