Mid-Century Poliedri Chandelier by Venini
Italy, c. 1960s
An iconic mid-century Murano glass chandelier composed of original Poliedri elements by Venini, one of the most influential glass manufacturers of the 20th century.
The chandelier is formed from an architectural cascade of thick, hand-cast clear Murano glass Poliedri, each element characterised by its faceted, diamond-like geometry and heavily textured surface. When illuminated, the glass refracts light with exceptional brilliance, creating a sculptural interplay of light and shadow that is both dramatic and refined.
The modular Poliedri elements are suspended from a discreet metal framework, allowing the glass to appear almost floating in space—a defining characteristic of Venini’s modernist lighting designs of the 1950s and 1960s. The overall form is bold yet balanced, making it a striking centrepiece suitable for both residential and architectural interiors.
The chandelier has been professionally rewired to Australian standards and is ready for installation.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age consistent with period and use. All glass elements are intact with no visible cracks. Please refer to images for full condition details.
A timeless example of Italian mid-century design, showcasing Venini’s mastery of form, light, and material, and ideal for collectors and interiors seeking an authentic statement piece of Murano history.
